After Twin Spin and Devine Fortune, both got a Megaways extension; it was now Fruit Shop’s turn, an old Netent-classic of 2011.

Undoubtedly many of us have long since forgotten that one. Yes, it was pretty cool back in 2011, but with the current standards, it’s of course outdated.

Fruit Shop Megaways – Gameplay and Features

Fruit Shop Megaways is a Megaways slot and has, like most, six reels with 2 to 7 symbols and a maximum of 117,649 Megaways.

Unlike most Megaways slots, you don’t get a free respin after a win, and therefore you don’t see the Avalanche (or Cascading) mechanic.

The five high-paying symbols are a couple of cherries, a plum, a lemon, an orange and a watermelon. The cherries are, by far, the most lucrative and a 6-of-a-kind yields a 12.5x win. It’s also the only symbol that gets you a win with a 2-of-a-kind.

The five low-paying symbols are the 10, J, Q, K and A.

The Fruit Shop symbols are the Wilds, and these replace all symbols. You will only find these on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.

How do you get the free spins?

Netent names these “free spins”, but frankly it feels more like free respins. Anyway, if you land a win, you get at least one free spin and at most five free spins.

For example, a 6-of-a-kind of a fruit symbol gets you five free spins. A 3-of-a-kind of a card symbol is good for one free spin.

I guess you’ll understand that free spins occur pretty often and as a result, wins are (in most of the cases) limited as well.

During the free spins, you can activate additional free spins, if you make new wins. So it can go on for quite some time.

The free spins – increasing multiplier

The main advantage is that you have an increasing total multiplier to work with, which increases by +1 after each win. It’s capped to x10.

The recipe is simple. Get many wins at the beginning, thereby building up a substantial multiplier. These wins also get you extra free spins. If you land a big win in the end (for example some 10 or 20 cherries), you know it’s checkout!
