Thunderkick’s Raven’s Eye is a mysterious, magical video slot with a lot of black ravens in the spotlight

Anyone who knows us a bit knows that we love three things: Quarterpounders with cheese, rock music from the 70s and 80s and Thunderkick slots.

As soon as a new Thunderkick slot is released, we do a little happy dance, curious as we are about all the good things coming our way.

Raven’s Eye has 30 paylines, a betting range of $€ 0.10 to $€ 100 per spin and a theoretical payout rate of 96.1%.

But there’s more. How about:

Although Raven’s Eye isn’t the absolute winner we had hoped for, there’s plenty to enjoy.

Symbols and payouts

All symbols are stacked, and (almost) full screens of the same symbol are common.

Unfortunately, the payouts of these symbols are very low.

The wild symbol (who replaces all symbols) and the beautiful fortune teller are the most valuable: 12.50 x the total bet for a 5-of-a-kind on an active payline.

Spin a full screen of these symbols to get a payout of 375 x the total bet. We won’t sugarcoat this for you.

There are four other elements (water, fire, air and earth?). These are the medium paying symbols: spin 5 of the same ones, and you win between 2 x and 4 x the bet.

The card symbols 10, J, Q, K and A are no more than a filler: you get exactly or slightly more than the total bet if you spin 5-of-a-kind on one of the 30 paylines.

Mystery symbol

The black raven is the mystery symbol in Raven’s Eye.

Also, this cheeky bird is stacked and can be found on every reel.

All the ravens on the reels change into the same symbol, and that could be anything: including the premium symbols and the wilds.

Free spins bonus

At least one mystery symbol (the black raven) on three reels or more will give you at least 9 free spins. That number can increase the more you fill reels with more mystery symbols.

Raven’s Eye’s free spins bonus reminds us of a real Thunderkick classic: Pink Elephants.

Here, too, you can earn extra free spins by saving so-called “orbs” (they are on top of the ravens).

For each meter you complete, you get +3 free spins. One of the low symbols (10, J, Q, K and A) is turned into a mystery symbol.

So the further you go, the more likely it is that there will be many mystery symbols on the reels.

Our verdict on the Raven’s Eye video slot

Raven’s Eye is a solid Thunderkick video slot, with one major flaw: its variance is too low.

Sometimes Raven’s Eye will surprise you with a nice payoff in the base game, but most of the time, you will feel like you are not getting anywhere soon.

It’s all small or medium prizes, and you can only win a big if you manage to land multiple retriggers in the free spins bonus round.

Graphically, the slot looks great, and the fortuneteller / black raven theme works well.

Definitely worth some spins!
