For a large part, this slot is a technical clone of Romanov Riches, a slot we were not very enthusiastic about in our review.

But at Showdown Saloon, you see clearly what a nice theme and an increased spin speed can do for a slot. A much nicer free spins bonus has also replaced the boring wheel bonus.

As a result, Showdown Saloon is quite a lot of fun. The gameplay has a nice pace, and the Wild West theme is a lot more exciting and attractive than a tired jewellery theme.

Nevertheless, we continue to be amazed that a giant like Microgaming time and time again only releases clones of their own titles. They could better spend their time and energy on coming up with more original titles, as they did in their glory years.

How does Showdown Saloon work?

Showdown Saloon is played on 5 reels with 3 rows of symbols and 15 fixed pay lines.

You bet from $€ 0.20 per spin, which amounts to a coin value of 1 Eurocent. You pay 5 coins extra each turn, which seems a bit strange.

The maximum bet is $€ 100 per spin:  $€ 1 per line and bet level 5.

The variance is between low and medium. You can win up to 1,500 x your bet, which is quite attractive. You do need a full screen with wild symbols, which, of course, will not happen very often.

Microgaming does not publish official payout percentages, so, unfortunately, we can not tell you the RTP.

Stacked symbols and respin feature

The symbols are stacked, and a respin feature is active. This respin is activated when a stack of the same symbols appears on the first 2 reels.

You now get a free respin, and that process repeats itself as long as you manage to spin extra connecting stacks with similar symbols.

All profits, meanwhile, are added together. If you manage to turn a full screen with similar symbols in 3 spins, you may also add up 3 payouts.

This respin feature appears very regular and is especially lucrative for a symbol with a high value.

Symbols and payouts

The wild symbol replaces all other symbols except for the Free Spins symbols. 5 wild symbols on an active pay line give you 100 x the total bet.

The low paying symbols consist of the card symbols J, Q, K and A and amount to 1 x up to 1.25 x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind. A full screen of the card symbols is worth between 15 x and 18.75 x the total bet.

What do we think of Showdown Saloon?

Showdown Saloon is a pretty “okay” video slot that provides some decent entertainment.

Graphically it is all fine, and the excitement and flow during the stacked symbols and respins makes for good fun.

You can win up to 1,500 x your total bet, which makes this especially interesting for the player who wants to win a big prize and wants to see some game time for his money.
