PapayaPop (AvatarUX) – a PopWins slot with less brutal volatility

PapayaPop is AvatarUX’s seventh PopWins slot. And again, it scores high marks. I continue to love slots with the PopWins mechanic.

This slot differs from the other ones, though, as the mathematical model is more suited for the players seeking less of a risk. The previous slots were most known for their brutal win potential.

The maximum payout of some of the slots is beyond borders. Take, for example, PopRocks PopWins, CherryPop PopWins, BountyPop PopWins or HippoPop PopWins with an insane 72118x, 56386x, 55000x and 48150x the bet.

This slot has a maximum win of 10542x the bet, which is more modest. And rightfully so, as the lovely PopWins mechanic should also be available for players seeking less volatility and less risk.

Gameplay and Features

PapayaPop has 5 reels with 3 symbols each at the start, just like the other PopWins slots.

It works with the PopWins mechanic, which is pretty straightforward: a winning symbol explodes (or “pops”), and two new symbols (instead of one) come in its place in the next free re-spin.

It allows the reels to expand up to 6 symbols in the main game.

The PopWins feature works with the win all ways mechanic, and you can win both ways (therefore from left to right and also from right to left).

If all reels get the maximum height (6-high), you’ll land 15,552 win ways (calculated as 2x6x6x6x6x6=15,552) in the base game.

The Super High symbol is the Gold Papaya, followed by the Gold Pineapple, Dragon Fruit, Passion Fruit, Fig, Guava, Star Fruit as the High-paying symbols.

I miss the durian fruit, the king of fruits, and the one with the most penetrant smell you can imagine, but it tastes like heaven!

The lows are the 9, 10, J, Q, K and A.

How do you win the free spins?

You trigger the free spins if you manage to get all reels at 6-high in the main game. Alternatively, you make use of AvatarUX’s Bonus Buy feature. It costs 75x the initial bet.

You start with 3 free spins, but every time you get a win, the Free Spins counter resets at 3. So the free spins bonus game only ends if you fail to win three consecutive times.

The total multiplier is x2, and all reels are 3-high (486 ways to win) at the start.

With the Gamble Wheel, it’s possible to get a better starting position. You can have a 5x multiplier and over 6250 win ways (all reels at 5-high).

I’m glad to see that this lovely feature is also available for players seeking less risk. Beware, though, that it’s still higher than average.
